Playschemes for children & young people with disabilities – City of Edinburgh Council

The City of Edinburgh Council recognises the importance of delivering a playscheme service to children and young people affected by disability during the school holidays. Many children & young people struggle with either the long school holidays or with the rapid change in routine during the shorter holiday periods and this can pose a difficult and stressful time to both them and their families.
The playscheme service is designed to support the whole family unit during the school holidays by offering; structure to the day, exciting activities, knowledgeable and trained staff, respite to the families, time for parent/carers to spend with siblings, consistency in behavioural strategies, communication methods and boundary setting. It is intended the service will enable disabled children & young people to have an exciting, enjoyable and fun school holidays which also supports their family.

The City of Edinburgh Council is Inviting organisations to Tender for the opportunity to deliver the Playscheme service requirements as outlined above and this includes the following elements:-

Playschemes for children and young people with disabilities across a minimum 4 venues, in each holiday period, for approx 400 children and young people (Lot 1)
Outdoor activities & Residentials (Lot 2)
Drop in family swimming sessions (Lot 3)

Provision of a primary school-based children and families counselling & emotional wellbeing service  – East Lothian Council

A School-based Children and Family Counselling and Emotional Wellbeing Service is required to support children attending East Lothian Council Primary Schools and their families. This school- based service will contribute, along with other existing services, to the development of the Education Service’s ‘Emotional Health and Wellbeing Strategy’. The main aim of the strategy will be to increase the capacity of children, parents/carers and staff to achieve improved emotional health and wellbeing.
East Lothian recognises that a number of children and their parents /carers face considerable challenges linked to poor mental health and emotional wellbeing. In order to address these challenges East Lothian recognises the need to build the resilience of families and children through increasing their personal capacity to resolve difficulties and problems.
