Delivery of a community engagement project for Rothesay THI – Maintaining Historic Buildings

The overarching purpose of this maintenance event requirement is to encourage homeowners to maintain their property on a regular basis and to provide them with the appropriate information on how best to achieve this, whilst also highlighting issues that might arise if maintenance is postponed.

Traditional construction methods and techniques should be promoted as best practice and reasons given as to why this approach is the most sustainable.

Argyll and Bute Council therefore requires an external provider:

– To deliver a weekend community engagement event over the following dates: 23rd and 24th November 2013
– To deliver this in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute
– To focus the event on the importance of building maintenance and to link this to the focus of SPAB’s National Maintenance Week
– To use the event as an opportunity to celebrate Rothesay’s distinctive heritage
– To deliver the event in a creative manner to ensure that it is as interesting and engaging to as wide an audience as possible

Design & Build of Skate Park – Cowan Park Barrhead

East Renfrewshire Council is looking to appoint a suitably qualified contractor to design and build a skate park facility. The skate park will be suitable for skate boards, roller sports equipment and BMX bikes. The contractor will:

Involve local skaters in the design and development of the skatepark
Construct a facility that is safe, secure, easy to maintain and fun to use
construct a free form skate bowl constructed using sprayed in-situ concrete
Construct a facility that complies with BS EN 14974:2006
East Renfrewshire Council has a budget of 80,000 GBP (Ex VAT) for design and construction.

A skate park group will work with the contractor on the design. The group will comprise of local skaters, East Renfrewshire Council and the Friends of Cowan Park (a volunteer group dedicated to improving the park where the Skatepark will be built).
