Argyll and Bute Council has secured Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) to develop a Stage Two, Parks for People funding application for Hermitage Park, Helensburgh. This project is being led by Argyll and Bute Council in conjunction with local community groups and will follow recommended guidance from HLF.
Hermitage Park is an urban park in Argyll and Bute, the only urban park in the local authority area. It covers an area of approximately 4.7 hectares and is located in the Conservation Area in the town of Helensburgh on the River Clyde, a mere 200 metres from the town centre and the main train station. The park contains significant heritage elements, gardens and recreational space which require investment to restore the heritage, undertake repairs, reconfigure the recreational space, increase visitor numbers and create a sustainable park. The Consultant shall work with the Council Project Team to develop the HLF Parks for People Stage Two application (hereafter referred to as HLF application). These are needed to:
– Support Argyll and Bute Council in delivering a viable stage two HLF application for Hermitage Park;
– Support applications to capital funding bodies, e.g., Historic Scotland, Sports Scotland.
The Consultant, should the HLF Parks for People application be successful, will be required to take the project through to completion of the physical works and handover.

The Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) is designed to accelerate progress towards the Scottish Government’s target of 500MW of renewable energy to be locally or community owned by 2020, and to maximise the benefits to communities from commercially owned energy. This is detailed in the Scottish Government’s 2020 Routemap for Renewable Energy in Scotland.
The generation of electricity from tidal streams is one area that the Scottish Government are considering as part of the renewable energy mix.
Supported by CARES, Sandbank Community Development Trust (SCDT) is seeking tenders for the provision of a feasibility study, preliminary design and development work (up to and including the planning stage). The consultant will provide technical advice and assistance to help SCDT to utilise their local hydro resource, with the aim of support the Scottish Government renewables target, creating income for the local community and increasing employment opportunities at Sandbank.
SCDT is seeking a consultant who can provide expertise, knowledge and resources not otherwise available in the community group. Knowledge small scale hydro feasibility assessment, hydro development work and extensive practical knowledge in the field will be essential along with demonstrable experience of assistance with similar projects.

Forgewood Housing are intending to demolish the existing community centre in Forgewood, Motherwell and replace it with an up to date community facility. The building will include recreational, social, business and office space. the building will be approximately 800 square metres over two storeys.
