Developing Financial Capability – Renfrewshire Council

The project aims to provide peer-led support to young adults (16-25 years old) in target groups to help them to improve their financial capability.
Three groups will be targeted:
• Young parents
• Young adults who were Looked After and Accommodated Children (care leavers)
• Young adults at risk of poverty
The initial project participants will be recruited through voluntary organisations already working with the target groups. Each participant will receive individually tailored support, with the aspiration that the lessons learned will encourage them to continue to participate and encourage their peers to also take part in the project. Once six or more individuals have been identified and the initial one to one sessions have taken place, the group will come together to design an appropriate programme. At least 20 young adults will directly benefit from each of the 3 projects; at least 60 in total will have sustained engagement with the programme. Additionally, at least 20 additional people will indirectly benefit from each of the 3 projects; at least 60 in total.
